Based in the Netherlands · working with clients worldwide
I've spent 17 years documenting software, most recently for banking and fintech platforms such as Mambu and Backbase, and before that for bol's Retailer API, DevOps tooling at XebiaLabs, and enterprise SaaS at Agiloft.
I treat documentation as an engineering product. In practice that means I write the content and also build what it runs on: docs-as-code platforms in Docusaurus, Antora, and Gatsby, CI/CD publishing pipelines, and migrations off legacy systems like RoboHelp and Jekyll. At Mambu I built an LLM-assisted workflow and quality-measurement tooling for refactoring the whole API reference suite, automated release notes, and architected a RAG-based assistant for developer support.
Most of that recent work is live: docs.mambu.com is mine end to end, from the platform and pipeline to the content.
Bramen is my independent practice: I help teams modernize their docs, make them ready for AI, and get the everyday writing done. (Bramen is Dutch for blackberries.)
Where I work
I'm based in Amersfoort, in the Netherlands. Through Bramen Docs I work with clients anywhere, remotely and across time zones. I'm a US and UK citizen on an HSM visa.
How I work
- Start with a short call and a look at the current documentation.
- Agree on scope and deliverables in writing before work begins.
- Deliver in reviewable stages, not one big drop at the end.
Languages
I write in English (native). I can prepare content for localization and build AI-assisted localization workflows, but translation itself isn't my specialty.
Tools and platforms
Docusaurus, Antora, Gatsby, Markdown, AsciiDoc, Git (GitHub/GitLab), CI/CD, AWS, OpenAPI/Swagger, Postman, Docker, Kubernetes, Confluence, Document360.
